Type 1 Diabetes Treatment Options

A person living with and a person treating type 1 diabetes are always searching for type 1 diabetes treatment, the way living could made easier.

Type 1 diabetes is the type of diabetes dependent on insulin. The condition is caused due to inability of the beta cells of pancreas in the Islets of Langerhans to produce insulin. The reasons why these cells cannot prepare or stop preparing insulin are very indistinctly known. It is said to be a blend of genetic inheritance along with infection, may be of some virus. Generally, it starts from childhood or may be from adolescence. Therefore it is also sometimes called juvenile diabetes. But this is not the essential condition; it can also show its presence in adults also.

The role of insulin is to regulate the blood sugar level. This manages the overall sugar present in the blood. This role of insulin prevents conditions like hypoglycemia and hyperglycemia. Hypoglycemia is a condition in which, a person do not have enough blood sugar level, means insufficient sugar for the brain. And hyperglycemia is a condition exactly opposite to it. Both these conditions are very serious and can be a cause for death.

Therefore if a person's body is not producing insulin, it has to be administered in his body by injection. Insulin cannot be taken in form of a tablet, as it will be digested in that way and will not be absorbed in the bloodstream in its required form. This is the usual way of type 1 diabetes treatment.

Second option available for type 1 diabetes treatment is the only complete way to treat type 1 diabetes. This is to receive new pancreas or at least section of it by the means of transplant. The ability of these cells to produce insulin can never be renewed. However the experts in the field are of the opinion that the consequences of transplant may be in some cases worst than the living with type 1 diabetes. This is the reason why the transplant is not generally recommended.

The second option available as a treatment for type 1 diabetes is to manage the blood sugar level with the mixture of insulin and diet. Some people unbelievably claim the cure of type 1 diabetes when they shift completely on raw food. According to the experts, it cannot be the cure, as the pancreas has not started producing insulin again. But it is surely remission of it. When the person will change his diet again, it will again show its symptoms. But if you are the one looking for type 1 diabetes treatment, you should shift on raw food under medical guidance.
